We have to iron out some details for our show next Friday! As well as decide on who is performing and do some set preparation! If we have time, we could also leave club early and check out the room we were assigned for our SUB show!
We also need to discuss a musical performance / a halftime performance for the show.

Howdy funny people,
Today at 6 pm in Curtiss 0255, we will have the first EVER stand-up comedy club meeting for the semester!
We will discuss details about the upcoming club fest and the semester as a whole. I hope to see you all there!

January 22, 2024Clubfest Reminder and Comedy Club This Week
Hello, my fellow professional comedians,
[I perhaps pondered the orb for too long and accidentally time-walked and thought it was a day later than it was yesterday when I sent this announcement. For your convenience, and if you have a goldfish-like memory like me, here is the announcement again]
I am taking time out of my orb pondering to send this email a day early just to remind you all that Clubfest is TOMORROW from 11am to 4pm. The hourly schedule we came up with in the club last week goes as follows.
11am - 12pm: Billy and Jonathan
12-1pm: Billy and Arya
1-2pm: Ivy and Jonathan
2-3pm: Noah and Ivy
3-4pm: Ronnie and Noah
4-5pm Marcus and Arya
Looking back at it now, it probably seems like it will end at 4pm rather than go through to 5pm, so it is likely that the 4-5pm slot will not be necessary. Please try to be there during the time you choose, and if you cannot make it for whatever reason, please coordinate with the other person who is to be at the table with you to make sure that there will be at least one person at a time at the table.
ALSO
Club this week will be a banger (and I know bangers) so make sure to be there! We will talk about upcoming open mic opportunities as well as opportunities to watch live standup in the coming weeks, and also some other fun announcements for this semester.
Just in case you guys forgot the club meetings are at the same time in the same building (6-7:30pm in Curtiss) but this time we are in room 0225!

January 31, 2024Elections And Teehees Today
Howdy funny folks,
Today in club, we will go to Teehees Comedy Club in Des Moines (for legal reasons as friends and not as a club) so remember to show up on time so you don't get left behind!!!
Before leaving, we will have elections for the following positions: Treasurer, Vice President, and Creative Director. If you plan on running for one of these positions, you will be asked to give a short speech to make your case and then answer questions from the room, if there are any. So please be prepared for that.
I am going to begin including upcoming opportunities to perform and watch live comedy in these emails, so here are those:

February 7, 2024SUCC Today (and stuff)
Hey silly geese,
It's Wednesday, and you know what that means: Midweek existential despair!
On a slightly happier note, we are meeting today at 6 pm in Curtiss 0225. Today, we are going to discuss what days and when our show(s) this semester will take place, so if you would like any input, please try to make it. We will also be going over the advice we received as a club from professional comedians such as Demetri Martin and Alec Flynn to those who couldn't be there to meet them.
Something we might try today if there is time is set review. Basically, we would watch a recording of one of our sets and give better and more precise feedback than we would otherwise be able to give.

Good afternoon funny folks,
Today in club, we will rediscuss show information for our semester shows because of some newly acquired information, so if you would like to input your opinion for our shows, then please come tonight (Curtiss 0225 @ 6 pm)!!!
We will also be doing our typical comedy-watching and comedy-writing activities, as well as offering constructive criticism for a club member's set since that was hit last time.

March 20, 2024First Club After Spring Break Today
What's going on, guys!? Welcome back to another club email (GONE WRONG)!
I hope you guys all had a good spring break and were able to relax and maybe even think of a couple of jokes along the way. Today, we are having our first meeting after spring break, and we'll talk about upcoming big-name comedians who are coming through Iowa that we could potentially go watch. Along with that, we will also talk about our upcoming show and perhaps make the list of performers and discuss a potential music act for our show.

April 3, 2024Last Club Before the Show!
Howdy my funny people,
As you may or may not know, this Friday, we have a show at the ISU After Dark in the Gold Room in the Memorial Union at 10 pm. So because of that, today in our club meeting, we will be doing set preparation (i.e., figuring out what jokes we are individually gonna tell and in what order).
If you are reading this email and you perform and are not usually able to come to club, but would like to perform during the show, you can! We only require that we have seen you perform at least once before the show, which is easy because there is a Mothers Pub Open Mic this week that many of us will attend (details below).
REMEMBER TO PROMOTE THE SHOW!!! PUT IT ON YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS!! DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO!! (for whatever reason, they didn't put us on the after-dark poster like they said they would, so now advertising is pretty much entirely up to us... yippee...)
