It’s back, and more than a bedroom piece. From the runways of Louis Vuitton, Valentino and Calvin Klein, the slip dress was plastered all over the latest fall fashion week. Designers modernized the garment and you can too. Regardless if you wear it over, under or alone, the slip dress’ versatility makes it work for every occasion.

Classic Slip

With a classic twist on it, this sexy lingerie is perfect for a night out, along with a simple heel and matching clutch. Valentino showcased this look in Paris fashion week this spring with slinky mid-calf slips and classic accessories. With a red lip and natural makeup, this look will draw every eye in the room. This minimalist ensemble pairs perfectly with a statement fur or a structured coat to top off the classic look.

90s’ Grunge

You could also try putting a grunge twist on it with a choker, a thick heel and a high-neck T-shirt. Think Rachel Green, from “Friends,” but with more edge.

Runway Ready

High necks, long sleeves, a bomber or thigh high boots all work to create an effortlessly chic ensemble worthy of the catwalk itself.

Style Tip

The real trick to fashioning a slip dress is making it you. You can style a slip dress with basically anything you pull out from your closet — over pants, under a sweater, with a statement piece or alone — the slip dress transforms into whatever you want. Pay attention to accessories because they can make or break this look. So be different. Be creative. Be you!
