Mission: " As an advocate for the profession of shelter veterinary medicine, the Association's mission is to advance the practice of shelter medicine and to further veterinary education and research as it relates to animals' health in shelters"
ASV-student chapter strives to provide hands on experiences and lunch hour presentations to enhance student's understanding of Shelter medicine in today's world. Experiences and presentations include: Neuter a Tom Cat, ARL volunteering, presentations on behavior in shelters, hot topics such as declawing and etc. As a member of ASV- student chapter you will not only be connected with the national ASV organization but also gain knowledge on the possibilities in shelter medicine and the applications that come with this special field. Students interested in this facet of Veterinary medicine are highly encourages to join the club.

| Membership Restrictions |
Membership is open to all, but non-veterinary students may face difficulties attending meetings held over the noon hour in Frederick Douglass Patterson Hall. |
| Elections/Selection |
The appointment or nomination of an executive board position will be considered and approved by the current executive board. Elections by a majority vote will be on an as-needed basis. Appointments/election will be done in the spring prior to the start of the following semester. |
| Meetings |
Lunch meetings take place 3-4 times a semester and various wet lab/experience learning activities are planned throughout the year. |
Description of Regular Meetings/Activities
| Lunch/Dinner meetings are held 3-4 times, shelter orientations are arranged as needed in the early fall, wet labs/experience learning opportunities are held throughout the year (mostly spring). |
