What is Arnold Air Society and When Did it Start?

Arnold Air Society (AAS) was first proposed as an idea for an extracurricular organization by ROTC Cadets at the University of Cincinnati in the summer of 1947. After having their idea approved by active members of the Air Force, the cadets wrote a constitution for their new honorary society. AAS is a professional, honorary, service organization advocating the support of aerospace power. AAS is formally affiliated with AFROTC and the Air Force Association. It is a national extracurricular organization available to Air Force ROTC and Academy Cadets.

Who is The O'Neil Squadron

The O'Neil Squadron was founded in 1951 at Iowa State University and was named in honor of two Ames natives, 1Lt James J. O'Neil and 2Lt Charles H. O'Neil. As a nationally recognized squadron within the Arnold Air Society, The O'Neil Squadron serves to provide members of Air Force ROTC opportunities to hold leadership positions and grow in their understanding of team organization, management, and public affairs. On top of providing opportunities to hold leadership positions, The O'Neil Squadron strives to better its surrounding community through acts of service. The O'Neil Squadron also works to bring recognition to important matters within society through the execution of an annual Joint National Project.
