Description of Regular Meetings/Activities

Department-wide colloquia presentations are held periodically. Faculty and students may present. These sessions are an important part of professional development because they provide a venue in which students can hone and polish their presentation skills, to obtain feedback on their on-going research, or to get help with difficult issues or problems they have encountered in their research.

Description of Special Events

At least once per academic year, GSSP hosts an invited colloquium from a regional scholar of renown in one of the Social Area's core academic domains. These scholar visits normally include an informal luncheon, during which graduate students and faculty can talk one-on-one with our guest, and a formal colloquium, during which our invited speaker will present her or his research to the Social Area faculty & students. Students from other Areas of Psychology are also welcome to attend these colloquia.
