Description of Regular Meetings/Activities
Department-wide colloquia presentations are held periodically. Faculty and students may present. These sessions are an important part of professional development because they provide a venue in which students can hone and polish their presentation skills, to obtain feedback on their on-going research, or to get help with difficult issues or problems they have encountered in their research. |
Description of Special Events
At least once per academic year, GSSP hosts an invited colloquium from a regional scholar of renown in one of the Social Area's core academic domains. These scholar visits normally include an informal luncheon, during which graduate students and faculty can talk one-on-one with our guest, and a formal colloquium, during which our invited speaker will present her or his research to the Social Area faculty & students. Students from other Areas of Psychology are also welcome to attend these colloquia. |
