Our goal is to provide a space for all Iowa State students interested in Environmental Science with the opportunity to develop their passion for the environment. Through the use of researching opportunities, volunteering, listening to guest speakers, and collaborating with other passionate students, we aim to achieve more understanding and fascination of the natural world.

Environmental Science Club this Semester

Our first club meeting is this Thursday, September 7th at 6 pm. We're meeting at the west end of Lake Laverne (near the bus stop) to make Ecospheres! If you have a jar you'd like to use, please bring it! Make sure it has an airtight lid and the capacity to hold the soil, plants, and water we'll be filling it with. If you don't have a jar, we will be providing some, but quantities are limited.

Starting this semester, the Environmental Science Club will now meet at 7 p.m. every other Thursday unless otherwise stated. We are planning a lot of exciting events this semester, from volunteering opportunities to crafts to a club hike, so be sure to always read to the end of these emails.

Below is the planned schedule for the semester:

September 7- Ecospheres

September 21- Seed paper craft

October 5- Faculty speaker

October 19- Reiman Gardens pumpkin carving volunteering, 6-8 p.m.

Weekends in October- Club hike and adopted highway cleanup

November 2- Screening of The Engine Inside, a documentary about the culture of riding bicycles

November 16- No hard plans yet, but we know it will be fun!

We will be designing a club shirt this semester, so stay tuned for updates and a Google Form to place an order.

Additionally, we are looking for club members to join the executive board of the club. These positions are open to anyone, freshman or long-time club member. If you are interested, please email osmiller@iastate.edu to tell us about yourself and why you would be interested.

As always, be sure to follow us on Instagram @isu_ensci for club updates, environmental holidays, campus sustainability events, volunteering opportunities, and more!
