Council Academic - LAS

Description

The LAS Council is the representative student body for undergraduates in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Clubs and other student groups from within the College that are officially registered may seek funding through this student-run council. It provides a venue for interaction between the LAS student body and the College administration.

Membership Information

Allowed Members Representatives of clubs within the LAS College.
Allowed Officers President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary
Membership Qualifications For the treasurer and president, you have to complete a training, but other than that, there are no qualifications to be a member or the Secretary/Vice President.
Membership Restrictions Anyone can attend, but there must only be one actual representative per club on the roster.
Elections/Selection Elections will take place at the end of first semester on a 'need to fill a position' basis, but there will be elections and selections at the end of every academic year.
Meetings Meetings this academic year will be every 1st and 3rd Thursday, from 6:00-7:00pm, but the meeting times will very likely be less than an hour.

Description of Regular Meetings/Activities

Regular meetings will be the clubs and council coming to an understanding of what each club's goals for the year are, and what funding/help from the LAS Student Council they are going to need.

Description of Special Events

We help to host both LAS Week and the LAS Etiquette Dinner in the Spring. We hope to expand on these kinds of events in the coming years.
