| Membership Qualifications |
Members must be elected and approved by their respective departments. |
| Membership Restrictions |
Members must be registered students for the duration of their membership as senators; students must also be in good academic standing and making requisite progress in their home program, as specified by the program. |
| Elections/Selection |
Yearly elections for two semesters of service; election of Officers and Senators both take place in the spring semester. Senators' home departments are responsible for choosing/electing their representation to GPSS. |

Last Monday of each month during the school year, except for December and May. Legislation proposed is debated and voted on |
Description of Regular Meetings/Activities
| Regular Senate meetings involve a prepared program during which constituent issues are introduced and concerns are voiced; new legislation is announced; forums are held for invited and extemporaneous speakers to inform the Senate about current issues or policy; Senate business is discussed, debated and decided, including legislation that affects and serves the interests of all graduate and professional students. |
Description of Special Events
| GPSS organizes and hosts several special events throughout each academic year, including Fall and Spring semester socials open to all graduate and professional students and their families; Fall and Spring orientations for new graduate and professional students; and an annual campus-wide research conference that showcases student work and allows students to network and gain presentation experience in a professional and collegial environment. |
