Good Earth Student Farm is a student-run organization where students, faculty, staff, and local community members grow produce to aid in reducing food insecurity at Iowa State.

We lease growing plots at the Horticulture Research Station (pictured above). After participating members take their workshare home, we share our harvest with Students Helping Our Peers (SHOP), the food pantry on campus.

In the last four years (2022-2026), Good Earth has donated over 9,000 lbs. of fresh produce to SHOP!

Working on the Farm

You do not need any experience with farming or gardening to join! This is a great way to gain hands-on experience with small scale farming practices. All we ask is that you work at least two (2) hours a week during the season to remain in active standing. 

Register as a club member by selecting 'Join' in the upper-right corner. Then contact a Good Earth Officer (email - goodearthofficers@iastate.edu) for current working schedules on the farm.

Please complete our Workshare Agreement before coming to work on the farm. You cannot attend events or farm shifts without filling the workshare agreement. 

We are active in the summer! We are a year round club. If you live in Ames or are staying for the summer, join now! If you go home for the summer, that's ok too! We have many shifts in the spring and fall too.
