Description

The purpose of Iota Iota Iota shall be to create a supportive environment for those pursuing academic excellence within the Women's and Gender Studies Program. As an organization we maintain the feminist values of intersectionality, activism, and advocation for marginalized groups within the Iowa State Community. Our Society is open to all Iowa State students pursuing a major or minor in the Women's and Genders Studies program who maintain a 3.0 or higher within the program. For those interested in being involved with the Society who are not majors or minors in the WGS program there will be an application in which you can join the program.

Membership Information

Non-ISU Members 0
Allowed Members Any and all Women and Gender Studies Majors/Minors are able to join. Non-majors/minors can still join upon application process.
Allowed Officers Anyone is able to run for office.
Membership Qualifications Student must have a 3.0 grade average within the Women and Gender Studies Major/Minor to be inducted.
Membership Restrictions Student must maintain a 3.0 grade average in the Women and Gender Studies Major/Minor.
Elections/Selection Elections will be held once a year.
Meetings Meetings are held biweekly in the Margaret Sloss Center on Thursdays from 5pm-6pm

Description of Regular Meetings/Activities

Weekly meetings focus on conscious raising as well as activism on campus. Informal discussions are held surrounding issues concerning race, class, gender, sexuality, ability, and religion. We hold events on campus as well as sponsoring lecturers who represent our values.

Description of Special Events

Equality Bake Sale An event on campus that focuses on the pay gap between genders and races.
Take Back the Night Walk An event on campus that is in recognition and solidarity of sexual assault survivors and also raises awareness on sexual assault on college campuses.
