Founding

Sinfonia was founded on October 6, 1898, at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, as a way for old and new men of the conservatory to mingle in mutual musical uplift. Sinfonia became a national fraternity two years later on October 6, 1900.  In the years that followed, the fraternity spread across the country.

The Early Days at ISC - Beta Mu Fraternity

The Alpha Delta Chapter traces our origins to the Beta Mu Fraternity, a local fraternity to advance music.  Beta Mu was founded in 1920, and joined Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia as the Alpha Delta Chapter on December 17, 1922.
