What Is The Competitive Climbing Team?
The competitive climbing team is an opportunity open to all members of the Mountaineering and Climbing Club who want to train in a group setting and experience the competition format of rock climbing. We travel to competitions in the Collegiate series hosted by USA Climbing where our team members compete up to the national level.
How Do I Join The Climbing Team?
The best way to join is by reaching out to the team coordinator Nathan Peterson: nathanrp@iastate.edu or joining the MCC Climbing Team GroupMe.
How Strong Do I Need To Be To Join?
The climbing team is open to all skill levels. To make sure that team members can be successful and comfortable, the MCC Climbing Team is split into two levels, the Training Team and the Competition Team.
Both Teams will:
- Practice twice a week (Wednesday, Friday)
- Have 50% of competition fees covered
- Receive coaching and training plans at practices
Training Team specific:
- Open to all MCC Members
- No commitment to competitions
Competition Team:
- Tryout required
- Meets for an additional practice (Saturday)
